Google is in mood removing fake apps from their app market. Recently, the Google team has removed fraudulent bank apps, which are stealing potential data from users without their intention or mimicking the official app asks users for bank details. As fraudsters are targeting banking apps, whereas Cryptocurrency also being targetted.
Well, it is not new that Play Store is being targeted by the cybercrimes. This Android market is saturated with many malware apps that can harm your device, collects your sensitive information, or other data. Though Google is all the time trying for better user security making their Play Store better app downloading destination.
Google Play Store Removes Mining Apps from Offerings
In the very recent they have updated their store policies and because of this, all cryptocurrency mining app has been removed. In their new policy, a new policy has been updated;
We don’t allow apps that mine cryptocurrency on devices. We permit apps that remotely manage the mining of cryptocurrency.
So, it indicates that they are not allowing apps that mine cryptocurrency on the Android device. However, a developer can feature his/her app in Google Play Stoe if it is remotely managing the mining of Cryptocurrency.
With this half of Play Store policy, many cryptocurrency mining apps had been removed. Or apps those help cloud or other forms of mining of cryptocurrency won’t be removed for this time. But directly mining cryptocurrency would not be featured in Google Play Store.
This new Google Play Store Policy is strict version against the Cryptocurrency mining apps. Google updated this policy in April of 2018 and using this term they have removed most of the apps that are the so-called mining apps for the cryptocurrency. Not just Google but early this year Facebook and Twitter also stop supporting Cryptocurrency.
However, besides Google’s new policy, the cryptocurrency mining apps featured on Google Play Store are fake or they are not useful in the actual world. As Google is filtering their Play Store by removing useless apps and fake apps. Ejecting the Cryptocurrency one of its initiative steps. Don’t worry if you use cloud-based or remotely controlled cryptocurrency. So, you don’t have to worry if you using them on your Android device.
Now Google also in the line who has banned Cryptocurrency mining apps after Apple. App Store also has taken this move this June. This steps could be for misleading or deceptive promotional practices, which don’t work as promised.
On the other hand, the social media giant; Facebook indicates we they have changed their policy as well.
This policy is intentionally broad while we work to better detect deceptive and misleading advertising practices, and enforcement will begin to ramp up across our platforms including Facebook, Audience Network and Instagram. We will revisit this policy and how we enforce it as our signals improve.
